Sam is a sweet 4 year old, 23 pound cocker spaniel. He is the classic cocker lap dog who enjoys cuddling with his people when he is not outside running and playing with the other dogs in his foster home.  At night, he promises to be a good foot warmer while you sleep!  He also gets along well with children and with cats. Check out a cute video of him here!

Sadly, Sam lost his first home when his owner died and has had a couple more homes since that time. With all the moves, Sam has separation anxiety which means that there are very specific requirements for his adoptive home.  Experience has shown that Sam absolutely must have another dog in his adoptive home as the presence of another dog seems to really comfort him, especially when his humans are not home. He would do best in a single family home and crating or confining Sam to one room are not options as either one will increase his anxiety.  A fenced in yard and a doggy door to go in and out of the house would be a plus.  He may also need to be kept on medication for his separation anxiety, especially as he transitions to a new home.

Although Sam is not an "insta-fit" dog, if you have the right home environment for Sam, you will be rewarded with one of the sweetest and most loving dogs you will ever meet.  We know he's worth the extra effort and that the right family is out there waiting to adopt this special boy.
