Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue

Trooper

Baby | Male | Adopted

PUPPY ALERT!!!  Trooper is an adorable, sweet 6 week old puppy (DOB 4/18/18) who joined OBG with his mama, Annie.  He will be ready for adoption on 6/13.  DNA results revealed that Trooper is 75% cocker and 25% too mixed to identify.  Trooper currently weighs just over 2#.

Trooper is a very friendly, adorable puppy.  He lives with a lab, a mutt, and 2 cats, and we're introducing him to new people every day.  While he is too young to begin Puppy Kindergarten, he will be starting to learn skills appropriate for his age this week.  He loves playing with toys and romping in the yard.  He gives little kisses if he gets close to your nose.

Before applying for a puppy, please carefully consider the following issues.  Will someone be home every 3-4 hours to let the puppy outside?  Our general rule of thumb is that if a dog needs to be crated for more than 6 hours/day total, then that dog is the wrong one for the person's lifestyle.  Please consider Puppy Kindergarten classes - it is never too early to start training.  More dogs under the age of 3 years are euthanized for behavior issues than for illness.  Puppies (and dogs) are expensive.  It will cost over $1500 this year alone to care for him (vet check-ups, shots, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea and tick preventatives, food, and other supplies).  We do not adopt puppies more than 1-2 hours outside of the Washington DC area.
