Macky

Gentle, sweet, cute, loving...these are just a few of the words being tossed around to describe lil old me!  My name is Macky and I'm thrilled to be at OBG and to meet you!  I showed up here when my previous owners were no longer able to care for me.  What is their loss could be your gain :)

Although I was a little anxious when I first came to my foster home, I've settled right in and am making new friends every day. I love hanging out with the family cocker spaniel - a guy my age - and the family cat. We all get along just great. Going on long walks is one of my favorite things to do and my foster mom seems to think that, with all my energy, I must be younger than than the 12-year-old age I was originally thought to be. You can decide for yourself though once you meet me in the fur!

While I can't hear much, that just means less barking when potential distractions are around. And my foster mom and I have been learning some basic skills using hand signals - I'm getting better every day.  I've also gotten some skin issues checked out while passing through the doc's house.  I just had several masses removed so I was a pitiful sight for a short while, but it never dampened my spirit.  The good news is that while 3 of the masses that were removed came back as mast cell cancer, the doc says I have a good prognosis.  She feels sure I'll be living footloose and fancy free as long as my forever family keeps a close eye on any skin lesions that may appear.

Did I mention I have a really good sniffer?  This means you'll want to keep your kitchen counters clean of crumbs (really food in general, who am I kidding?!)  I sometimes find it hard to not follow my nose and human food is especially hard to resist!  Trash cans are also a temptation - so perhaps a home with older kids and adults would be best so I'll be set up for success and won't get into trouble!
