Miss Lily

***Though Miss Lily went over the Rainbow Bridge, her inspirational, plucky spirit lives on.  Blind and deaf, right to the end, that little girl always had her tail up!  She was so loved by everyone who met her, especially by her foster mom, who was with her until the end***

Hello! My name is Miss Lily.  You might remember me as Sweetpea from the first time I was with OBG.  I was adopted a couple years ago and my name is now Miss Lily.  My adopted Mom gave me a loving home but she developed serious health issues of her own and eventually could no longer care for me.  Now I am back with OBG, looking for a forever home.

I came to OBG a few years ago, when I was found as a stray down in Georgia.  Now, being a stray is scary for your average dog - but I can't see and I can't hear, imagine that!  But it didn’t give me pause.  You see, I love people, and I am fearless and friendly, so I love to make new friends and explore new places!  And, in my explorations, I “map” new spaces so that, before long, I am getting around so that you’d never guess I was blind/deaf.  So you see, I’m as resilient as I am sweet - and for those of you who don't know me, I'm very much both!

I’ve had really good care and am very healthy (just had my teeth done and lots of tests to be sure I’m tip top!), so I’m doing very well for a lady of my age (I have to confess, though, that I have been having some *leaking* issues, so my foster mom keeps me in doggie pants.  But it’s not a big deal, I just stay in my “big girl pants” and everything is easier for all of us.)

So at this point, I am 13 years young, doing very well, still have my spunky sweet disposition, and am looking for a quiet retirement home. I love human companionship so just spending time with you is what makes me happiest.  I am not what they call a ‘velcro” dog, but I love being with my family (two and four legged) so am always sure to be with my family, hanging out in a favorite dog bed, and just being with you.  I love giving sweet smooches to make sure you know how much I love you!  I also love my two cocker and two tabby cat siblings (and when my foster mom isn’t home, you can always find me hanging out with them).

My foster mom wants you to know that she thinks I'm the sweetest, happiest girl she knows; a real inspiration. I'm constantly exploring each and every corner of the house and yard, quickly mastering the floor plan of each so although my eyes don't work, I get around just fine, and always make sure to live life to the fullest!
